For more than fifteen years IREX has supported efforts to reduce human trafficking through support for civil society organizations that raise awareness and provide alternative employment opportunities, assistance to media to improve reporting on the problem of trafficking, and support for research into trafficking.

Her research project was entitled "Civilizing Wilderness: Musical Practices as Political and Economic Resources in Contemporary Ukraine."

IREX Launches Programs in Georgia to Strengthen Independent Media

Two recently launched programs in Georgia will allow IERX -- with financial support from USAID and the US Embassy in Tbilisi -- to help Georgian media professionals tackle some of the biggest challenges facing their media sector.

Georgian media has experienced some turmoil in recent years.  In March, a Georgian television station’s fake broadcast of a Russian invasion into their country outraged many viewers who saw that as an irresponsible stunt.
