Summary of position

IREX seeks an experienced professional to design a curriculum and teacher’s manual on high school journalism and to train teachers in its implementation. The curriculum will be used by teachers in developing countries with limited press freedom, including China. The consultant should have significant experience working with high-school students on journalism skills, including composition and reporting; basic ethics, freedoms, and responsibilities; and media literacy. Experience working with international audiences is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development for the high school level
  • Experience as a teacher of journalism or mentor to a high school newspaper
  • Familiarity with media and education issues in developing countries preferred
  • Willingness to travel overseas
