POSITION DESCRIPTION AND QUALIFICATIONS
IREX is seeking short and long-term media trainers and long-term advisors and project managers for posting in the Middle East and North Africa, dependent on funding. Arabic and French language preferred and prior experience training or advising journalists, media outlets, or civil society organizations required; prior donor or project management experience strongly preferred. The positions require international travel. Short-term trainers may receive assignments from 2 weeks-2 months; Long-term trainers and advisors may receive assignments from 3 months - 1 year; Project Managers may receive postings from 1 - 3 years.

- Donor project management
- Media management, including organizational development, leadership training.
- Media business development
- Broadcast and print equipment and infrastructure
- Media and NGO relations
- Journalism training and education, curriculum development, editorial management
- Media and government relations
- Media Law
- Association Development

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must be well organized, able to work independently, skilled at handling multiple tasks, and able to adhere to deadlines. Specific qualifications highly desired include:
- Training and consulting experience in region
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Solid understanding of political, economic, and social issues in the region.
- Regional language skills, Arabic and French.
- Experience managing donor-funded technical assistance projects, preferably media programs.
- Experience in managing subgrants.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Developing and implementing training curricula or consulting plans, as appropriate.
- Serving as point of contact between IREX and local media representatives.
- Liaising with and among IREX media programs and other IREX programs.
- Long-term trainers/advisors and project managers will assist IREX in staffing short-term training assignments, including writing scopes of work, developing budgets, recruiting, and making logistical arrangements.
- Long-term trainers/advisors will assist in tracking budgets, communicating with funders, and writing reports for funders.
- Attending meetings, conferences, seminars that will promote the work and image of IREX, as allowed by the program budgets.
