Iraq University Administration Support Program

The Iraq University Administration Support Program (UASP) contributes to improving administration in selected universities participating in the Iraq University Linkages Program (ULP).

Program Components:

1. University Management Training Course: This 3-day course will take place in Erbil, Iraq and will convene competitively selected university administrators for an intensive workshop covering the fundamentals of university management and higher education leadership. Topics covered will include: globalization of higher education, leadership, management, organizational change. Additional topics that may be covered during this course include quality assurance, resource management, faculty development, strategic planning, systems thinking, and budgeting/fundraising.

2. Fellowships in University Administration: IREX provides competitively awarded short-term fellowships for mid and senior-level university administrators to spend approximately six weeks with counterparts at US public universities. Recipients of the exchange fellowships will be selected from among the participants of the management training course. Over the course of the six week program, management fellows will research and build a case study in a specific area of university management. The case studies are used to guide participants and their colleagues in implementing sustainable reforms at their home institutions. The results are published and disseminated to the wider public.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

-Be a citizen of and currently reside in Iraq;

-Be proficient in written and spoken English;

-Hold a full-time position with the title of Vice-President, General Director, Director, Dean, Vice-Dean, Department Head/Chair, Director, or equivalent position focusing on higher education administration at one of the following institutions: University of Baghdad, University of Technology, Baghdad, University of Tikrit, University of Duhok, Salahaddin University, University of Kufa, University of Basrah, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kurdistan Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research
