1992 IREX offices move from Princeton, NJ, to Washington, DC, in to facilitate cooperation with DC-based organizations in the development of new training initiatives. IREX initiates the Modems for Democracy program, providing free Internet and e-mail access from workstations set up in selected libraries and archives in Russia and Ukraine. IREX continues to expand its field presence, opening new offices in Yerevan, Armenia; Kiev, Ukraine; and Riga, Latvia. |
